CDC is one of the 13 major operating components of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which is the principal agency in the United States government for protecting the public's health. In addition to the valuable resources on its web site, the CDC also produces the Pandemic Influenza Update (PDF) a twice-monthly newsletter containing the latest information on pandemic flu.
