Working Group on Pandemic Flu Preparedness

Trust for America's Health (TFAH) convenes a Working Group on Pandemic Flu Preparedness to serve as a broad-based coalition of organizations that believe that pandemic influenza poses a major threat to the nation's public health, security, and economy, and that the U.S. government's preparedness efforts should be commensurate with the threat.

The Working Group on Pandemic Flu Preparedness focuses on information sharing about government pandemic preparedness initiatives and collegial collaboration. Various members of the Working Group have coalesced around specific activities, including the issuance of joint statements in response to Congressional and Administration actions, hosting Congressional briefings, submission of articles to peer-reviewed publications and supporting ad campaigns urging government officials to enhance pandemic preparedness.  The group was started in August 2005.

Interested in Joining?

The Working Group on Pandemic Flu Preparedness welcomes all those that have an interest in issues related to pandemic flu.  Membership includes professional and scientific societies, public health and medical associations, labor unions, industry, non-governmental organizations, animal health and conservation groups, among others.

Given the fast-paced nature of the issue, much of the group's work is conducted "virtually" through email exchanges and few in-person meetings are held.  Participating organizations are not required to "sign-on" to all of the Working Group's activities; organizations can voluntarily review each on a case-by-case basis.

There is no cost to join.
